A Workshop on engaging Young Adults in their clubhouse and addressing their needs for living in the community

The young adult workshop will help Clubhouses find and engage young adults to address their needs (e.g employment, housing etc).

This training is unique and fills an unmet need in helping clubhouse programs support young adults who may be transitioning from children´s system to the adult mental health system.

The Focus
The focus during the training is on learning and applying methods that have been used by Fountain House NY, Genesis Club and Fountain House Gothenburg to engage young adults in the work ordered day.

Learning objectives

• ​The Value and necessity of a proactive reach out with young adults. Participants will understand the development stages facing young adults with an emerging mental illness.
• Why a Clubhouse´s working community approach can address the psychiatric and developmental needs of young adults.
• What the "best practices" are for engaging young adults in the work ordered day.
• The importance of capturing a young adult´s employment goal in the first week of their membership and learn the importance of using it throughout their service tenure.
• Education and training opportunities need to be elevated to have the same level of importance as employment.​

Registration
The registration fee for each Clubhouse represented by a member and/or staff-team
of two people, is:
20.000 SEK (about 2.000 EURO)
for training in Sweden (included double room in hostel Mon-Fri).
